The public is outraged at a video of a Seattle police officer punching a young black girl in the face. The alleged circumstances surrounding the incident began as the officer in question, witnessed four teenage girls jaywalking across Martin Luther King Jr. Way. According to KOMO News , the women became "verbally antagonistic" when the officer addressed them. That is when the officer asked them to step over to his patrol car. Apparently one of the women resisted the officer, leading to a struggle in which another young woman, who tried to help her friend, was punched in the face.
Undoubtedly this, already controversial video (below), will divide the public in regard to race and brutality of the Police Department. Half see it as an outright display of 'undue and excessive force', while others believe the young woman (along with the rest of the youth in the country) is out of control and therefore deserved being struck.
I will personally reserve my opinion of the incident until I have, number one, calmed down, and number two, reviewed all the forthcoming facts involved.
