Donnie McClurkin: Raised up for such a time as this.
What can you say? Donnie McClurkin is on fire for God, and is on the forefront of a very controversial and age- old subject: Homosexuality.
.
Reaching the youth
His Message
A few months ago (see video below) he spoke at the COGIC Holy Convocation International Youth Department Service in Memphis,TN. Pastor McClurkin recounted tragic details of being twice raped as a young boy. Ultimately it led to a struggle with his sexual identity for many years. During this youth rally, he went on to apologize on behalf of the clergymen, deacons, members, parents, etc. who sit silently hiding behind the facade that the homosexual struggle does not exist in the church. He also apologized for being one of the ones who dropped the ball and passed on this facade to the present generation. So anointed and moving was his message, that by the end of the rally hundreds of teens, male and female, dealing with homosexuality, pressed their way toward the stage during appeal time. In a perfect world, people would be proud of teens taking this crucial stand for God. However, this was not the case. There are those who see this as "railing against openly gay youth".
Pastor McClurkin has drawn lots of attention, both positive and negative, for his position on homosexuality. Having struggled with and overcome homosexuality first-hand, Donnie has stated his belief that men are not born gay, but rather choose this lifestyle. I have to add that ,while I don't believe in violence and verbal abuse of those struggling with this demon, I'm inclined to agree with Pastor McClurkin. I agree with him because he speaks strictly from the word of God which does condemn the act of homosexuality. Don't believe it? Then let's take a look:
Lev. 18:22, "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."
Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"
1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
Rom. 1:26-28,"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."
So, if he's only speaking according to the scriptures, then why kill the messenger? There have been no public accounts of Pastor McClurkin verbally abusing, condemning, or calling-out anyone, yet he has been threatened, misquoted, and verbally attacked himself. Homosexuality is clearly condemned in the Bible. It goes against the created order of God. He created Adam and then made a woman. This [not two men or two women] is what God ordained. Unlike other sins, homosexuality is an abomination and has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. Not us! This judgment is simple: When they are given over to their passions, that means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins (Romans 1:18); as a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be 'no repentance', and without repentance there can be no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.
As forementioned, I do not advocate the use of violence or verbal abuse towards those practicing homosexuality because, as Christians, this is not the way we deal with those who struggle with strongholds. As Christians, we 'must' pray for the salvation of the homosexual the same as we would for any other person in sin. If we are to reach them, as Christ showed compassion and reached out to a dying world, then we have a responsibility to express the same compassion and dignity to them as we would to anyone else. However, this does not mean that we are to approve of their sin. We can not compromise our witness for a politically-correct opinion that is void of godliness.
Peace to all who read,

For those who have emailed or left comments on whether or not the public tends to demonize homosexuality more than other sins, I'd like to genuinely thank you for your input. The Bible says how can two walk together unless they agree. Jesus invited participation when he stated "come let us reason together."
I will always stand firm on the biblical principle of loving the sinner but hating the sin; and correcting the sinner in the spirit of love and compassion, regardless of what, sin he or she, is overcome by. After all, everyone has fallen at one time or another. With this said, I'd like to answer some of your inquiries.
Are we demonizing homosexuality?
I've given some thought to the topic. I could quote Leviticus 20:13 on the abomination of homosexuality, however I'm sure everyone who reads the Bible already understands this (or should). So I'll approach it from a different angle. The Bible says "pride goeth before a fall".
The "other" sins...
Have you ever heard a prostitute boast and say "this is who I am -God made me this way"?
No. In my experience (talking with them) prostitutes are surprisingly humble and realize they need help. Often times they come to the church because they have nowhere else to turn. And usually they repent, recover, and go on to live productive and healthy lifestyle.
Have you ever heard a drug dealer or addict say "I want to practice in the church as an 'open drug pusher'...I'm going to start a church for drug dealers and we want to be recognized as legitimate priests"?
No. They come into the church realizing that this lifestyle is killing them and they seek guidance or mentoring. Usually a great deal of them will come full circle and begin some type of outreach or motivational ministry to assist others in leaving the street life behind
Have you ever heard a pimp say "I'm organizing a demonstration march. Let's send a message...we will have a pimp pride parade"?
No. They want to bring as little attention to themselves as possible.
Have you ever heard a thief or robber say "we were born with a predisposition towards thievery and shouldn't be held accountable...since we were born this way we should pass legislation that recognizes us as a special civil rights group-just like African-Americans"?
No. I do not believe we are demonizing homosexuals...they are demonizing themselves.
No. usually after doing a stint of jail time somewhere, they begin to understand that this lifestyle is leading them down a road of self-destruction. Even repeat offenders have been quoted as saying they never want their children or siblings to follow in their footsteps.
But only in the homosexual community do they desire to push their lifestyles in the face of the public and attempt to force us to accept (and condone) what we know is not only wrong, but what is killing them and setting a false example, of normalcy, for the youth of this nation.
