Frustrated parents, fed up teachers, and proposed legislation; nothing seem to pack as much punch as American Idol hopeful, Larry Platt's, rendition of Pants on the Ground.
General Larry Platt, as he calls himself, auditioned in January for the show. He may not have advanced to the finals, but he has definitely advanced the cause for which he is so passionate. Platt is a civil right activist who, like many, became enraged with the younger population, namely African-American men, sporting sagging pants and exposed underwear. Says Platt "After all this work I did with Dr King - walking around with your pants on the ground? They're going to have to get them up. I'm sorry."
The unlikely tune has become viral and has sparked an Internet frenzy. People nationally and internationally are now chanting the lyrics. Platt has been quite busy performing his hit. He has been offered a record deal and is currently performing in Las Vegas. A recent list of performances includes the 2010 Grammys, talk show "The View", and the Selma to Montgomery Memorial March.
While in Montgomery recently, Platt stated that God had given him wisdom and this message to spread. Great Job General Platt! Keep your feet on the ground, stay focused on the cause, and may your message be received far and wide.
